Job Description Of A Chemical Sales Representative

Meeting the quota for sales for the day and month is the duty of the sales department. They calculate the numbers by having feasible measurements on marketing, forecasting, and historical data. Endearing the product to the big name clients and public is their aim in implementing marketing strategies. Chemical sales representatives will help them do those things.

Being the sales representative is not easy. They need to have knowledge and education on the chemical products they sell. It would be better if the individuals have a bachelors degree because of the scientific technicalities these products have. It would be best though if they have taken lessons under chemical engineering and its related courses while an undergrad.

Speaking of, training in this field is quite a challenge for they have to be equipped to answer customer questions. This usually last quite longer than typical office jobs. That is because they need to rotate around for a time from offices and plants. This ensures that they get to learn the necessary phases in manufacturing, installing, and distribution of the products.

To be a competent sales representative, the company requires characteristics and personalities in their employees. First of all, they need to have interpersonal skills wherein they work and engage well with different people. Once they do, they are able to create a good customer service skill that will listen to their concerns. Lastly, they need good stamina for this job requires heavy activities such as lifting of boxes and running to client offices back and forth.

Their job description simply pertains to selling chemical products and product details to customers at negotiated price. However, the specifics to that are a bit detailed. Customers need to identified first and find ones who are willing to have open discussions. Observing potential customers is possible when they meet them at trade shows, conferences, and client recommendations.

It is their duty to introduce the products to them and help in selecting ones that mainly address their needs. They will recommend which are most suitable to use on a specific need. Moreover, limitations on their usage and other related details will be discussed as well. This puts emphasis on inherent product features.

Answering customer questions are important. It may range from product details, uses, availability, and price. They should have the skill to negotiate prices that will benefit and favor both customer and company. This will assure customers that they know and understand the products.

Helping them in creating market strategies on information and sales are the senior colleagues. These strategies are used to convince customers and assuage their doubts. They will then make reports containing call reports, work plans, and sale territories analysis. This are reviewed by upper management and department head for progress measurement.

After a period, follow ups have to be done such as calls and visits on clients. This lets them know how satisfied they are about the products and if they will order once again. Satisfied customers results to having long term and loyal ones. The relationship between the company and customer will improve as a result.
