The Downside Of Puffed Cereal And Their Downside

By Carol Parker

Most food shelves in the supermarket today do not miss to have cereals on them. To almost every child, the puffed cereal is attractive and would prefer to have it for breakfast of how much they cost. They are very crucial for the growth of the child, but guardians should limit how much these children take in these cereals. The following article gives you reasons that help you know why you should control the intake of these processed grains.

Everybody will buy these unprocessed grains only because they are attractive to the eye. However, experts have put a different eye on them, and have found out that these do not have enough nutrients. As much as they are cheap, the nutrient content in them is so little, hence making it worthless to spend your money on them. These cereals contain synthetic nutrients, which introduce toxicity into our bodies.

When you were growing up eating these grains was not a big deal. However, a few inconsistencies came when you consume these foods. Once ingested, they never seemed to undergo proper digestion. Note that cereals are processed through extrusion. Manufacturers use little holes that spit out the grains into whichever shape you need the cereal to be. From this, you get the charms, flakes, and puffed grains.

While in this process, the meal must undergo high pressure and temperature that assist in turning the sludge to become dry. These harsh conditions are not friendly to the food because of they, in turn, deplete some nutrients present in the menu. Thus, essentials such as proteins become less in percentage. The manufactures then coat the dried grains or flakes using sugar and oil. This provides the food with the attractive look and the crunchiness it possesses.

Many people who consume these foods daily can develop insulin problems in their body. Remember that the pancreas produce the insulin to help regulate body sugar. However, the pancreas may fail to execute its job properly because the cereals introduce a lot of sugar into the body. Victims will begin to experience body changes such as feeling hungry as soon as they take breakfast, or feeling tired and moody every morning.

As you all know, these grains contain phytates. Most of the time manufacturers do not put much concern into this matter though. The phytates are responsible for inhibiting the correct absorption of minerals in the body. Some of the minerals include copper, zinc, iron, magnesium, and calcium. On the other hand, manufacturers should ensure that they deplete all the phytates in the foods; alternatively, they would make sure that the substance is minimal in the grains.

Because of these reasons, it would only be fair if anyone who wants to live a healthy life to try out new breakfast ideas. For example, porridge would work best. As much as you may never get to like it, it contains unprocessed grains and may have all the essential nutrients that your body needs.

If this does not appropriate for you, try to take sprouted dehydrating grain cereals. They may be rare to find but does not require a lot of effort to prepare them. Health food stores and food isles contain these foods.
